When the Walls Fall: A Word for the Weary Warrior!

Scripture Focus: Joshua 6:1–20 (NIV)

Hey you! Yes, you.

I know life has been overwhelming lately. Everyone is struggling with something, and most of us are exhausted. The suffering has been intense, and the resulting weariness even greater. But today, I want to speak directly to a specific group of people—people like me.

I’m talking to those who’ve been battling the same storm for a while now. Just when you think you see a break in the clouds and catch a glimpse of sunshine, the darkness creeps back in. Not only does it return—it comes back stronger, heavier, and from the very same storm you thought had passed. It’s not a new challenge; it’s the same exhausting battle, relentlessly pursuing your peace, strength, and the little sanity you have left.

Any battle is hard—but when it’s the same one over and over, it wears you down. It frustrates you. It makes you question how much longer you can hold on.

A Song, A Shower, and a Reminder from God

Recently, as I found myself weary from a fight that seems never-ending, God reminded me of the story of Joshua and the battle of Jericho. It came out of nowhere—while I was in the shower, I started singing, “Joshua fought the battle of Jericho!” Funny enough, I only know the chorus, but I couldn’t stop singing it. The more I sang, the more it stirred something in me. It took me back to my very first Sunday school teacher—Mrs. Ernestine Washington. I couldn’t have been more than five years old when she taught us that story, yet I remembered it so clearly.

As I hummed and reflected, I heard God whisper:

“Your continuous march is not in vain.”

Marching with Purpose

That moment made me pause. Why this random memory now? Why that old Sunday school lesson?

I rushed through the rest of my shower and grabbed my phone to Google where the story was in the Bible. Joshua, chapter 6. As I read it, everything clicked—and I had to share this revelation with you, my J-Bugs.

“Then the Lord said to Joshua, ‘See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days.’”

Joshua 6:2–3 (NIV)

God gave Joshua specific instructions. The Israelites were to march around the city of Jericho once a day for six days. Then, on the seventh day, they were to march around it seven times. After the seventh time, the priests were to blow the trumpets, and the people were to shout.

“When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the army will go up, everyone straight in.”

Joshua 6:5 (NIV)

Their breakthrough was tied to their obedience. Not their strength. Not their strategy. Just obedience.

You’ve Got a Jericho Too

If you, like me, feel like you’re walking in circles around your own Jericho—please hear me: Your marching is not in vain. God hasn’t forgotten you. You must keep obeying His specific instructions for your life, even when it feels repetitive, even when it seems like nothing is changing.

That “Jericho” in your life? It’s the thing you just can’t seem to conquer. It’s the situation that intimidates you and feels impenetrable. The obstacle that keeps staring you down, mocking your faith, and draining your energy.

Now that you’ve named it in your heart, it’s time to march.

“By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after the army had marched around them for seven days.”

Hebrews 11:30 (NIV)

Today Is Your Seventh Day

This is no coincidence. God gave me this word to release today—the seventh day of the seventh month of the year. Just like in Joshua’s time, today is your moment. Your march isn’t meaningless. Your obedience isn’t pointless.

This blog is your metaphorical horn.

It’s shouting time, J-Bugs!

Because of your obedience, the walls are coming down. I know it’s been heavy. I know it’s been exhausting. But hear me clearly—your continuous march has not been in vain.

“When the trumpets sounded, the army shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the men gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so everyone charged straight in, and they took the city.”

Joshua 6:20 (NIV)

Your Victory Is Here

Victory is your promise and your portion.

Breakthrough is breaking through.

It’s time to advance.

You’ve conquered your Jericho.
